Typism Book 6: Behind the Scenes 2
Mar 18, 2020
Each year we feature some behind the scenes shots of the process behind some successful Typism submissions. This week we are sharing Grégoire Cheynier’s.
Grégoire is a graphic designer and letterer from the North of France with over 11 years experience.
First, he starts off with roughly sketching out some concepts using drawn in guides.
Next using tracing paper Grégoire starts refining the initial sketch. (Hot tip instead of using tracing paper you can also use baking paper!)
Grégoire keeps refining his letterforms and layout until he gets to this final sketch using a brush pen. We're loving the 'S' shape on the end!
Moving to digital, Grégoire uses the pen tool to trace around his sketch creating the finished piece. Can we all just take a moment to appreciate how satisfying it is to see all these beautifully placed anchor points making some smooth as bezier curves.
We love the message of this piece and the fluidity of the letterforms. You will find this artwork in the upcoming Typism Book 6.
