The Typism Book began as a simple black-and-white publication for a one-day type and lettering conference on the Gold Coast in 2013.

Fast forward ten years, and the tenth edition of the Typism Book is in the works!

To commemorate this milestone and coincide with the 2024 ATypI Conference in Brisbane, Typism is proud to present an exhibition showcasing artwork from the Typism Books series reimagined in a larger-than-life poster format.

The Posters

Over the last decade, 1710 pieces of the world’s best lettering, calligraphy, and type design have been featured in the books, so narrowing it down to 36 for the exhibition proved no easy task.

Ultimately, it wasn’t about the work because all of them are stunning; it was about featuring some of the artists who have played an integral role in the book series, including many who have appeared in all nine editions.

Featuring artists from diverse corners of the world, including Ukraine, Brazil, Indonesia, Bolivia, Turkey, Italy, the UK, the USA, and beyond, this exhibition reflects the global reach and impact of Typism.

Many of the 36 artists chosen to display their work in the exhibition come from countries other than Australia.

So, if they cannot travel to attend the event in person, they have nominated a song to be played at the opening to represent them and their work instead. You can access the playlist below.
