Typefolk x Typism Award

Typism x Typefolk Award

Typefolk® is an awards platform started by Tam Love from Lettering Tutorial which focuses specifically on celebrating the art of lettering, calligraphy and type design. Typism is excited to collaborate with Typefolk and we have our very own trophy to give away to the winner.

Tam started Typefolk after an experience judging websites for the CSS Design Awards (CSSDA). The process involved rating aspects of websites based on specific criteria such as usability and she found the experience provided regular inspiration and she was able to discover new techniques which she could apply to her own work. The awards also provided a great way for web designers, developers and agencies to get much deserved recognition.

When Tam realised that there didn’t seem to be a similar kind of platform for the lettering arts—continually recognising and awarding the lettering arts throughout the whole year—she decided to create one.

Typism founder Dominique Falla is one of the Typefolk judges and it occurred to Tam and Dominique that a crossover award might be a fun idea, and so here we have it, the Typism Community Crossover award.

Typefolk x Typism Community Crossover award 2021

This laser-cut timber award is one-of-a-kind and is designed to celebrate the best of the Typism Community. How good would this look on the shelf in the studio?

Sound fun? Want to join in? Entering the competition is simple. There are three steps:

  • Step 1: Create (or curate) the best piece of lettering you've ever done
  • Step 2: Fill in the application form
  • Step 3: Submit your work before 10 March 2021 to win.

If you're ready to make 2021 your best year ever, head over to the application form and fill in your details. If the Typism judges love your work, this trophy could be yours.

The competition will be open to enter between Feb 10 until Mar 10 and entries will be published on Typefolk from Feb 14 until March 21, which is when the judging will take place.

The most outstanding work will be chosen as the winner and announced on April 7th.

The best part is, by entering your work in the Typism Community Crossover competition (try saying that three times fast) there is also the possibility of winning the overall Typefolk lettering legend award as well.

What lettering will you submit?
